How to Achieve Financial Wellness
Expert advice on achieving financial wellness from Lee Baker, Lazetta Rainey Braxton, Bob Powell, and Dr. Preston Cherry. Actionable tips to grow wealth and achieve financial fluency.
Key Takeaways
- Start with financial compassion by understanding your clients' goals, aspirations, and values before offering any recommendations—people won't listen to advice from someone who hasn't tried to understand them first
- Progress clients through the financial wellness arc in order: compassion (being seen/heard) → education (receiving information) → literacy (making informed decisions) → confidence (feeling secure about finances)
- Financial wellness and financial planning follow the same multi-step process, so align your planning approach with these four foundational pillars rather than jumping straight to recommendations
- Skip the early empathy steps at your peril—clients cannot become informed decision-makers without first feeling understood and having access to education, so the sequence matters
